Carter- Lambert Division (CLD) is seeking a highly motivated and talented ACO Product Developer-Journeyman to support the Airworthiness Cybersafe Office. The salary range of this position is
$87,257.30 - $97,367.60 and would be commensurate with experience. This is not a remote position.

NAVAIR Leonardtown, Maryland


A typical day as an ACO Product Developer-Journeyman may include:

  • Receives day-to-day tasking from the ACO Airworthiness Director and is involved all aspects of airworthiness product development
  • Acts as Flight Clearance Product Developer for interim and permanent flight clearances
  • Develops content and executes updates for NATOPS and NATIP flight clearance publication sets
  • Develops content for Interim Flight Clearances
  • Creates transition plans to incorporate Interim Flight Clearance content into NATOPS/NATIP
  • Maintains a record of all Flight Clearance actions to include; clearances issued, clearances expired and clearances in-work
  • Keeps customer aware of actions required to maintain product currency
  • Provides the customer with NATOPS/NATIP planning and activity coordination.
  • Maintains reports for content requirements traceability and defects against the products


Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of DoD aviation/flight clearance product set experience and an Associate Degree in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree-These 2 years of experience are in addition to the required minimum of 5 years to meet the experience requirements below, requiring a total of 7 years of experience; Or 4 years of DoD Aviation or flight clearance product set experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree-These 4 years of experience are in addition to the required minimum of 5 years to meet the experience requirements below, requiring a total of 9 years of experience
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient with Airworthiness enterprise tools, processes and procedures by the development of flight clearance product content, generating requests, overseeing the flight clearance review process and finalizing/releasing the flight clearance products to ACO
  • Prior professional US Military Aviation experience
  • Experience working with Naval Aircraft
  • Experience with NATOPS/NATIP Publications
  • Experience using e.POWER paperless routing software
  • Possesses a strong computer-use background to include editorial/graphics software running on local, networked or web-based platforms
  • The ability to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance


Desired Skills:

  • Excellent communication Skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Flight Manuals
  • Ability to teach/ train others on the Airworthiness process


Preferred Experience:

Any air crew member positions for DoD airframes (IE. Flight engineers, pilots, crew chiefs, and load masters)

Physical environment and working conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. On some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.
